Session Description: It is 1851 at Derby’s Silk Mill. The Silk looms are noisily clattering and Eliza Bird,  a 10 year old Silk Winder, is tirelessly working. Bring your learners to an engaging and multi-sensory experience; exploring the museum, using census information, photos from the past and other sources to playfully discover what life was like for children employed at Derby Silk Mill over 150 years ago. You will make a woven sampler, learn how to ‘wind the bobbin up’ and go over and under with the warp and weft!
