Facilities for Schools

VISIT INFORMATION: MUSEUM OF MAKING

For classes of 30 children, we recommend five accompanying adults.

Coaches can drop off by the Bonnie Prince Charlie statue on Full Street – a 2min walk from the Museum of Making, across Cathedral Green.

Lunch room facilities are available on request for schools booking our facilitated sessions and must be pre-booked. It is kindly requested that pupils dispose of their rubbish in the bins provided.

Visiting groups are very welcome to visit our shop. A pop-up shop is also available at lunch time, for schools on full-day visits with facilitated sessions – pre-booking is essential, please ask for more information when booking your visit.

Photography is encouraged – if you have great images from your visit, we’d love to see them – please share them with us via the Derby Museums Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram – all @derbymuseums.

Coaches can drop off outside the Museum and Art Gallery on Cheapside.

VISIT INFORMATION: PICKFORD’S HOUSE

For classes of 30 children, we recommend five accompanying adults.

Coaches can drop off outside Pickford’s House on Friar Gate. Mini buses and cars can park free of charge in Pickford’s House car park, accessed from Agard Street.

Lunch room facilities are available on request for schools booking our facilitated sessions and must be pre-booked. It is kindly requested that pupils dispose of their rubbish in the bins provided.

Visiting groups are very welcome to visit our shop. You can also pre-order reasonably priced, themed goody-bags – please ask for more information when you book.

ACCESS

Derby Museum and Art Gallery is fully accessible and the Museum of Making will also be fully accessible when it opens, with a Changing Places facility.

Due to the historic nature of Pickford’s House, wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor, lower ground floor and garden. Toilets at this site are only accessible via stairs to the first floor.
