A hands-on making session suitable for families. Our facilitators have created a series of activities inspired by the Museum and Art Gallery that you can do from home. There will be different things to make each time.
From the historic Silk Mill (widely considered the site of the world’s first factory) to the engineering triumphs of Rolls-Royce, Derby is a city of clever thinkers and makers. Carry on these creative traditions by learning how to make your own invention – a pom-pom launcher!
For this session, you will need:
- 2 toilet roll inserts
- 2 elastic bands
- pom poms (you can also use ping pong balls, or screwed up tin foil/paper)
- pencil or pen
- hole punch (optional)
Suitable for children aged 5+ with their grown-ups
Pre-recorded activity film will be made available here: www.derbymuseumsfromhome.com/
This online session is free of charge, however, if you are able to consider making a donation, this will help us to continue to conserve our heritage and re-open our doors for future generations. All of your generous donations will be matched pound for pound by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Donate here.
