The Makory is the mobile Museum of Making that tours the region and engages people with the ongoing story of making throughout the city and county as we are devloping the Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill.
The Makory also forms part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Great Place Scheme, a programme of activities which is the next step in engaging people with the uniqueness of this UNESCO site. The scheme uses the Derwent Valley Mill’s industrial heritage and spirit of innovation and making to inspire creative activities which enable people to connect and communicate with the culture and heritage at the heart of this historically significant place.
The Makory travels throughout the city and county as a mobile maker space full of stories, objects and facilities to make things! It visits schools, events and communities – enabling sharing, learning and engagement. The project encourages people to share their own stories of making to create an on-going narrative that is being captured as part of the development of the Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill.
