Paul Liptrot

Midlands Maker Challenge Coordinator

We took a little time out to have a chat with Paul and find out more about him, here is what he had to say…

1. Many of the people that Joseph Wright painted chose to be depicted with an object that tells us something about them as a person. What object would you choose and why?

I’d choose my dog, Bugsy –  have always had dogs so it’s a good choice – plus he’s quite a poser!

2. If you could be any animal from the Nature Gallery, which would you be and why?
The otter because they’re resourceful, tenacious, love swimming and are good at chilling out

3. What makes you happy?
My ultimate happiness is standing on a beach, looking out to sea, losing myself in the sensations and thoughts, if it’s a beach on the Indian Ocean then that’s even better.

4.What do you love to do in your spare time? (Aside from working at the museum, obviously)
In my other life I’m an artist so I spend time researching, experimenting with materials and making.  I love spending my free time with my partner and Bugsy, my hairy briard!
