We took some time to chat to Emma to find out a little more about her, here is what we discovered…
- Many of the people that Joseph Wright painted chose to be depicted with an object that tells us something about them as a person. What object would you choose and why?
It sounds odd but probably my rucksack! It’s usually packed full of work stuff, gym kit, my laptop, clothes for the next day when I stay at my boyfriends, food shopping – it’s an important item in my everyday routine.
- If you could be any animal from the Nature Gallery, which would you be and why?
I’d have to go with my favourite specimen from the Nature Gallery, the hedgehog skeleton – it’s so cool! When the gallery was being installed and the skeleton didn’t have a label, I really couldn’t guess what it was – I think it’s such a great object.
- What makes you happy?
A decent cup of tea, and my colleagues will know me very well for this. It takes some knowledge (and courage!) to make me a brew!
- What do you love to do in your spare time? (Aside from working at the museum, obviously)
To turn my work brain off, I love going to the gym. Boxing with my personal trainer really helps me to unwind and take my mind off of the working day. It also helps if I’ve had a particularly busy week at the museum.
