Derby Museums’ Endowment

We are delighted to have been offered a match funding Endowment Grant of £1m by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which means that every pound you give to Derby Museums’ Endowment campaign before September 2022 will be doubled, up to a total of £1m, creating a £2m Endowment for Derby Museums. This will help to secure the future of Derby Museums for everyone.

The Endowment will provide financial stability to ensure that future generations reap the benefit of the collections and the huge range of activities and events that they inspire. This is our way of looking out for the generations to come.

Supporting Derby Museums’ Endowment helps us to:

  • Raise the aspirations of young people to be the makers, artists and thinkers of the future
  • Continue to look after our three sites and the 250,000 heritage objects in our collection
  • Continue supporting 23,000 people who take part in free family activities every year
  • Engage and inspire over 124,000 people a year

How can I help?

Consider making a regular gift

To make the most of this match funding opportunity we need help from everyone. During the period of the National Lottery Heritage Fund match funding award, every pound donated will be doubled. With Gift Aid and the match funding your donations soon add up!

We appreciate that some of our supporters may have personally been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, but if you are able to consider making a regular gift to our Endowment during the last 22 months of our Endowment challenge, your gift can make even more of a difference. It is a great way to support our future resilience so that we can continue to conserve our wonderful collections and serve our local community with free exhibitions, activities and events.

  • You can contribute £275 by giving £5 per month
  • Giving £10 per month means you can raise a fantastic £550
  • An incredible £2750 would result from a gift of £50 per month.

If you are a higher rate tax payer you can reclaim the difference between the rate of tax you pay and the basic rate on your donation. So a regular gift of £10 per month would be at a net monthly cost to you of £7.50 per month and a gift of £50 per month would be a net monthly cost of £37.50 to you.

The sooner your monthly donations start, the sooner they will be match funded to start benefiting Derby Museums.

If you can consider supporting Derby Museums in this way, please click to donate a monthly gift of £3, £5£10£15, £20£25 or £50. If you prefer to consider a different amount or would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact jennifer@derbymuseums.org who will be more than happy to help. All gifts are very gratefully received.

Buy an Orrery Pin Badge

You can donate to the Endowment campaign and show your support by buying a specially commissioned and limited Orrery Pin Badge. You can buy one on Derby Museums’ online shop or visit the shop at the Museum and Art Gallery or Pickford’s House.

Consider making a one-off gift

Every donation to our endowment is incredibly important to us, whether it is £10 or £10,000.

During the period of the National Lottery Heritage Fund match funding award, every pound donated will be doubled.

This means that a gift of £1,000 with gift aid and the National Lottery contribution would give £2,500 to the Endowment (at a net cost of £750 to a higher rate tax payer).

A £10,000 donation, with gift aid gives £25,000 to the Endowment (at a net cost of £7,500 to a higher rate tax payer).

Donations of £500 and above will be offered the opportunity to be featured on our donor recognition board displayed in the Museum and Art Gallery.
