Our latest season of events has just been announced! With our exciting exhibitions and events you’re sure to find something to enjoy.
February has seen the launch of brand new exhibition Process and Progress: The Creative Journeys of Ronald Pope and the Artists of the Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award. Featuring the stunning art of modernist sculptor Ronald Pope (1920-1997) and a series of talented artists who have all won the Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award over the last 19 years.
This years summer exhibition will be the fantastic Quentin Blake and John Yeoman: 50 Years of Children’s Books which celebrates the extended collaboration between illustrator Quentin Blake and writer John Yeoman with more than 40 works on display.
From June – August we will exhibit The Lampedusa Cross on loan from the British Museum. This powerful exhibit is made from the remnants of a boat wrecked near the coast of Lampedusa in 2013, which cost the lives of 311 refugees, the Cross acts as a mark of the survivors’ salvation from the sea and their hopes for the future.
Join us at Pickford’s House to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth through an exploration of her impact upon health in the home in Florence Nightingale: Health in the Home. Explore the mysteries of Derby’s Jacobean House and discuss the price of demolition of historical buildings in The Jacobean House: The Highs and Lows of a Derby Townhouse. Both exhibitions open in March.
Alongside our exhibitions is a programme of fantastic events. Take part in one of our Family Workshops, choose from Newton’s Science Challenge or Sculpture. Bring the little ones to enjoy our Phases of the Moon Easter Trail, or perhaps they’d prefer the Fairy Tale Trail in May?
