Derby Museum’s is delighted to accept the generous donation of £11,500 from the Mayor of Derby’s Charity. John Whitby the outgoing Mayor presented the cheque to Patricia Coleman – Chair of Derby Museums, the charity that manages Derby’s museums and collections. The gift will go towards Derby Museums’ Endowment fund, meaning it will be doubled in value and help to sustain the Museums for generations to come.

The donation is part of a very successful year of fundraising led by the former Mayor which included a reunion music gig, gala dinner, quiz night and of course the infamous lock-up!

John Whitby said as a former trustee of Derby Museums, “…it is charity that means a lot to me and the people of Derby and I am so proud to be able to make this endowment gift knowing it will be doubled in value by the Heritage Lottery Fund”.

Pat Coleman said “…we are thrilled to receive this generous support as one of the Mayor’s chosen charities, it will make a great contribution to our endowment campaign which is so important to help secure Derby Museums future for the people of Derby”.
