Stevie Davies

Find out more about Stevie Davies…

I have a number of very distinct sides to my creative practice. Specialising in contemporary fused glass techniques, I have enjoyed over 10 years developing process and techniques. I enjoy experimenting with materials to design and make a selection of accessories for the home and body from my Banks Mill Studio.

My most popular range is called ‘Bubbles & Sparkles’. Made by cutting and layering sheets of Dichroic Glass chemical inclusions with create mini reactions which result in tiny air bubbles which interfere with the coloured surface, creating intriguing details.

Monochrome Porcelain jewellery is created by pouring and dripping liquid clay and using tools to manipulate the clay into unique designs, a very free process which is all about the little interactions between black, white and grey ceramics.

Slate Makes was initial started as a direct response from the Richard Long exhibition held at Derby Museum & Art Gallery earlier in 2018. Being a natural material, it goes through a delicate process where the slate itself has to dictate the final form/shape. Cleaning up the edges, softening any corners and sealing the surface before using metal leaf to gild sections to add a contrasting metallic highlight.

Teaching is another side to Stevie’s practice, developing workshops for all ages and abilities, for those who just fancy a nice day out, those celebrating a birthday, art groups or the few who want the start of a new hobby or career.

Stevie welcomes commissions and asks you to get in touch.
