Find out more about Sophie Currie Designs…
I am a jeweller and metalsmith based in the East Midlands, inspired by the beauty fractal patterning found in nature. Fractal patterns can be found all around us, from snowflakes to cross-sections of plant roots, and are mathematically perfect patterns and are aesthetically beautiful. I explore these patterns through hand-spun copper and silver vessels, and handmade gold, silver and copper jewellery and copper framed pictures.
My techniques include gold/silversmithing; metal etching and patination and hand metal-spinning. Combining these techniques help me to create objects that reflect the beauty of the naturally occurring mathematical patterns that decorate their surfaces.
