Learners explore the process of human-centred design thinking and making. Learners first take part in an active museum gallery exploration, taking inspiration from a vast and diverse range of objects linked to transport and sustainability. They then work collaboratively in teams to build understanding around an environmental-sustainability themed design brief, generating imaginative ideas in response to this, before creatively making and prototyping their ideas, and sharing these with each other.

Knowledge and understanding is built around the theme of environmental sustainability (linked to transport), and the process of design, and specifically Human Centred Design – a process of generating meaningful solutions, with people at its heart. Appreciation is also fostered for the role of museums in caring for objects and sharing stories. Key STEAM skills including creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, communication and making are all developed.
