Derby Ram Trail

Come and explore the Derby Ram Trail, a stunning, free family friendly public art trail of 30 individually designed 5ft ram sculptures.

Follow the rams around the city, discovering Derby’s open spaces and cultural heritage along the way. The rams have all been designed and hand painted by artists, with varied designs capturing aspects of Derby and the wider world.

The Derby Ram Trail is brought to you by Derby Museums, together with Wild in Art and Presenting Partner, Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID). Wild in Art is a leading producer of creative events that transform places into free, family-friendly outdoor art galleries.

All of the rams have been generously sponsored by local companies, organisations and charities to help bring the Ram Trail to Derby.

Forming a trail of discovery, visitors can navigate their way using the trail map or free to download Derby Ram Trail app. Alongside the trail, a Schools’ Mini Ram Trail comprising of 30 mini rams designed and decorated by Derby city school children is on display at the Museum and Art Gallery.

After 12 weeks, the herd of sculptures come together for a special Ram-union weekend, giving everyone a last chance to see the rams. When the art trail ends, the legacy of the Derby Ram Trail will continue as the sculptures take centre stage at a glittering auction to raise vital funds for Derby Museums’ Endowment.

The Trail is raising money for Derby Museums, helping to secure the future of Derby’s free museums for everyone to enjoy. Every pound raised will be doubled by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
