This summer, the Derby Ram Trail, a spectacular free public art installation is coming to Derby. From June to the end of August 2020 a flock of 30 fabulously colourful and unique Rams will take you on a free public walking sculpture trail around our beautiful city.
Together with our Education sponsors Rolls-Royce, we are inviting Derby city schools (Primary, Secondary and SEND) to take part in a cross-school art competition, giving your pupils the opportunity to get their own mini ram on a trail around the Museum and Art Gallery.
To enter, pupils are invited to take part by designing a ram in 2D. Schools will have a downloadable resource pack which includes a template for the young people to design their own ram. Schools will judge their pupil’s designs in school and determine which young artists will be invited to paint up one of the mini 20cm 3D rams that will be entered into a cross-school competition being judged at the end of May. We will be shortlisting up to 30 rams to put in a Mini Ram Trail in Derby Museum and Art Gallery alongside contemporary artists and high-profile exhibits. After 12 weeks on public display, your mini rams will be yours to keep in school, college or your community.
We would love schools to join the Ram Trail excitement this Summer by participating in the Mini Ram Trail. Full details of the competition together with the resource pack will be available to download from the Derby Ram Trail website (www.derbyramtrail.org) after February Half term. Watch this space!
